A new trailer for The Climb emerged on Thursday, to commemorate the game’s debut in the Oculus Store, giving those unfamiliar with Crytek’s virtual reality rock-climbing game a brief look at some of the courses featured in the launch build.

If you aren’t familiar with The Climb , don’t worry, you aren’t alone. Until our own Bob Fekete had a chance to play the game and speak with Crytek about The Climb during GDC 2016, it wasn’t on our radar, either. But we’ll be damned if the game's launch trailer doesn't make it seem like one of the best-looking projects currently available for the Rift. At first, some players might find the lack of rendered body strange or disorienting, since many first-person VR games render a body for the player, but the views that can be enjoyed from The Climb ’s virtual rock faces should help ease some of that discomfort.

The launch build of The Climb features three environments, each of which is based on a real-world locale and features multiple paths from the bottom to the top. There are also difficulty settings for each, based on the time of day, and half a dozen bouldering courses for players to tackle once they’ve finished the main game. Crytek even included an infinite climbing mode for those who want a longer experience than the existing courses offer. Whether all of that will justify the game's $49.99 launch price will obviously differ from one player to the next. But at least we're starting to see more VR content from well-known studios.

For a closer look at The Climb , take a couple of minutes to check out the game’s Oculus launch trailer. Then head down to the comments section and let us know whether or not this is the sort of experience you’re looking for in VR.
