Control is now officially available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Both physical and digital versions were launched for the US, UK, and Europe regions. Meanwhile a digital version was released for the PC through the Epic Games store.
Control is a third-person action-adventure game set in a unique world that is ever-changing and often strange and unexplainable. Players take on the role of Jesse Faden, struggling to regain Control after an otherworldly threat invades a secretive agency in New York. Faden seeks for answers as she grows into her new role as director of the agency and meets allies along the way. She also works with other Bureau agents, discovering strange experiments and secrets. Players are challenged to master the combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts, and reactive environments to help Faden survive Control’s deep and unpredictable world.
The PS4 and Xbox versions are available in the Retail Deluxe Edition, which comes with the collectible FuturePak Exclusive Metal Packaging and limited-edition art cards. The PS4 version also offers the Digital Deluxe Edition, which not only comes with the base version but adds the “Isolation” side mission along with the exclusive Jesse’s Urban Response Gear outfit. The same version also includes two Expansion packs, “The Foundation” and “AWE,” both of which are going to be available at a later date.
The PC version meanwhile prides itself on being the first game to feature multiple ray-traced effects, as well as ray-traced reflections, contact shadows, and indirect diffuse lighting. The PC version supports NVIDIA DLSS and for a limited time, gamers can receive Control with each purchase of a GeForce RTX 20-Series Qualified Product.
Remedy Entertainment Game Director Mikael Kasurinen said in a press statement that the studio considers the recently launched game to be its most ambitious game yet, adding that they believe it is going to redefine what their games are all about. He went on to say that Control is going to give fans a more player-driven experience than any of their previous titles and that they are “proud of what we’re delivering to players today and we look forward to continuing to expand on what we’ve built after launch as well.”
Meanwhile publisher 505 Games President Neil Ralley revealed in the statement that the official launch marks “a major moment for both our companies.” Ralley said that the game has great potential for becoming a hit on a bigger scale than ever before.
