As the month of August ends, it’s time to get into another Grand Prix season as publisher Activision and developer Beenox gives us a sneak peek at Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled’s next big event for September. Dubbed ‘Spyro & Friends,’ this content drop is expected to bring Spyro the Dragon (another Activision IP) for some kart racing with the bandicoot and his friends.
Like the other updates and Grand Prix seasons for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, ‘Spyro & Friends’ will come for free to anyone who has purchased the game, meaning that you can drop in and play through the new content which kicks off this August 30. This Grand Prix season adds new characters, new karts, and new items into the race, as well as a brand-new track for players to race on.
First off, as is expected, Spyro the Dragon will be added as an unlockable playable character, in addition to two more characters from the series: Hunter and Gnasty Gnorc. The new updat also includes some new karts to race around with, like the Spyromobile and Gnasty Ride. To add to these, players will have the chance to unlock new decals, stickers and paintjobs to fully customize rides, as well as new skins for both the new and existing characters.
Of course, with a new Grand Prix season comes a new track to race on, and for this September Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will get to race on Spyro Circuit. This track is a celebration of everything Spyro-related, featuring some very notable changes to add to the circuit’s overall flair. For one, once you get into the action, you’ll notice that some of the items have been given a drastic cosmetic change on this track. The power-up crates are now chests, while the Wumpa fruits are now gems. Sparx also replaces the invincibility masks, which was commonly covered by Uka-Uka.
