A new cyberpunk city-building game is coming to Steam this year. Titled A.I. Rising, being developed by Chinese studio OKJOY, is a game about creating a digital city.
At its core, A.I. Rising is a city sim video game but it offers a fresh perspective to the genre. To make sure that the challenges and excitement of building and managing a cyberpunk metropolis is present, the game introduces unique gameplay aspects, such as:
- Free to build and upgrade resources, warehouses, apartments, and defense.
- Players can design their very own cyberpunk city.
- Take advantage of the strategic multiplayer gaming.
- Set up a variety of defense traps to keep the city safe.
- Players can train their character to defeat foes.
- Players can unlock game NPCs and interesting dialogues through various tasks.
- Learn more about their stories and hide easter eggs.
Two Schools of Thought
What’s the game about? It’s set in the near future where AI development is divided into two schools of thought. The first one is all about “anthropomorphism” or incorporating human personalities into databases. This results in virtual personalities being able to provide intelligent services. This database is called the “personality consciousness sea” and mainly used in games as well as the service industry.
The other school of thought looks into “computation” and allows AI to calculate the development of things and come up with countermeasures by analyzing as many variables as possible. This is used in different contexts from national development to student employment.
Human Nature
It’s been found out that the countermeasures provided by AI are difficult to implement mainly because various human factors have the tendency to distort the subsequent development. Because of this, humans allowed AI to experiment with game personality to try and correct the bias in calculations.
This is where the player enters the picture. They’ve been tasked with monitoring this experiment mainly to avoid disputes. Ultimately, they have to build a utopia for the abandoned NPCs in the cyber world and make sure that they’re not forgotten.
