The first season of Marvel Studios and Netflix’s Daredevil series premiered on April 10, but it seems that the reported rumors that season 2 will be premiering earlier than the first are becoming true.
According to Comicbook, the site learned from “independent sources that Daredevil season two will launch on Netflix on March 25, 2016.”
If that date sounds familiar, it’s the same Friday that DC Comics/Warner Bros. will be premiering Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters. Bold move by Marvel and Netflix, but one that can totally pay off if theaters become sold out forcing those to stay home and watch some Daredevil season 2 .
This isn’t the only time Marvel and DC stepped into each other's territory. The Captain America: Civil War release date was announced for May 6 and Warner Bros. put BvS on the same day. WB thought Marvel would move their date but instead, DC Comics, to avoid any loss, moved Batman vs Superman to its now March 25 release date. That said, the reported Daredevil season 2 release date won’t force another move.
And while Daredevil season 2 may not have the star power as Batman vs Superman, the additions of Punisher and Elektra have fans of the series more hyped for the sophomore season when it finally releases.
That coupled with the success of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage and Iron Fist still to come, Daredevil season 2 may build up to the eventual teaming up of the Defenders.
Comicbook.com reached out to Marvel Television for comment and have yet to receive one and there has been no definitive confirmation from Netflix, or Marvel Studios so take the reported Daredevil season 2 release date with a grain of salt.
But the season 2 release date is close enough to the first season’s, which back when season 2 was announced they said would release around the same time as season 1 but it would be in the Spring.
