Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Supermassive Games announced a November 18 release date for The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me, the fourth entry to the developer’s famed The Dark Pictures Anthology series of horror games. The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, with special physical editions to be made available on consoles. To celebrate the release date announcement, Bandai Namco unveiled a new trailer for The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me, which you can check out below.
The new trailer shows the upcoming features for The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me, and it appears Supermassive Games has quite a few new tricks in store for its latest game. The most interesting ones are the new inventory system, making this game a bit more outside of the interactive drama genre, new puzzle gameplay challenges, and expanded exploration mechanics. It will be interesting to see if this makes The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me the most open-ended game in the series so far once it finally releases.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me tells the story of a group of documentary filmmakers who received a mysterious call inviting them to a modern-day replica of serial killer H.H. Holmes’ “Murder Castle.” As this is an opportunity too good to pass up and could just be what these filmmakers are looking for, they oblige, but what’s supposed to be a dream quickly spirals into a nightmare. The crew discovers that someone or something is watching them from behind the scenes, and they’re being manipulated.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me takes place in the World’s Fair Hotel, where players can explore every nook and cranny of this creepy building. With the expanded exploration mechanics, players can run, jump, or climb outside of quick-time events, which are usually prevalent in the series. However, a killer hellbent on becoming the deadliest in America is out to get them in this cat-and-mouse chase that will ultimately test their wit, mettle, will, and loyalty.
