The Dark Souls franchise isn’t one people typically associated with modding, at least not since the days when DSfix was practically a required download, but a new camera hack is letting players experience Dark Souls 3 from the first-person perspective.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a first-person camera mod for a Dark Souls game. In fact, according to the reddit user who published the mod , the user responsible for creating the Dark Souls 3 first-person mod was also behind similar add-ons for Dark Souls and DS2 . The player behind the DS3 mod even released a follow-up to the initial download after the game’s latest patch was rolled back on Monday . But this might be the fastest we’ve seen such a mod appear in the weeks after the launch of a new Dark Souls title.

While the Dark Souls 3 first-person mod can be a bit buggy in its current form, whoever’s behind development of the add-on has been providing a surprising amount of post-release support. In addition to making the mod patch-compatible, the DS3 modder has already released a secondary patch designed for Windows 10 users having trouble getting the Dark Souls 3 first-person mod to work properly. Best of all, the mod works without modifying any of the game’s files, making it a relatively risk-free proposition. That said, the mod’s creator does recommend backing up your save files before installing their latest creation. Just in case.
