More than 30 minutes of new Dark Souls 3 gameplay footage hit the web this weekend, following an appearance on Twitch’s SXSW Gaming stream, giving the Dark Souls community another look at the opening moments of the game ahead of next month’s debut.

Though it’s not an event the average gamer might associate with the industry, video games played a prominent role at South by Southwest (SXSW) this year, bolstered by well-known organizations like Curse, Geek & Sundry and Twitch. And there was no shortage of developers and publishers in attendance, either; including Bandai Namco, who decided to bring Dark Souls 3 down to Austin for a couple days. Fortunately, while many of us didn’t get to make the trek down to SXSW this year, the internet has given us a gift in the form of new Dark Souls 3 gameplay footage, complete with running commentary from representatives from the DS3 team.

Fair warning, there isn’t much (if anything) in this week’s DS3 footage that will come as a surprise to longtime fans of the franchise and/or those who’ve been keeping a close eye on development of Dark Souls 3. The new footage was captured during the early moments of the game’s campaign, shortly after defeating one of the first bosses in Dark Souls 3. It’s a bit of a departure from other recent Dark Souls 3 demonstrations, which focused on the first sections of Lothric seen in DS3, but many of the environments will still feel familiar. On the plus side, the new footage should at least provide a brief distraction for anyone trying to procrastinate on this fine Monday morning.

Dark Souls 3 is being developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game hits North American stores on April 12.
