Destiny 2 gameplay is set to be revealed May 18, and we’ve learned a few more details about the event courtesy of YouTube’s Skill Up. We now know how long the proceedings will last as well as which platforms will be highlighted during the stream.
As noted in the headline, the full presentation will reportedly be eight hours long, and it will begin at 1 p.m. EST. The premiere is expected to conclude around 9 p.m. EST. A keynote with major Bungie staff members will introduce the new features, gameplay and characters to the public, and the rest of the evening will offer a deep dive into the content that’s been shown.

The large swath of media and influencers invited to the debut will be able to go hands on with, and capture footage of, the PC and PS4 versions of the game. Even though Destiny 2 is also set to release on Xbox One, the Microsoft console version will not be present.
While no official confirmation has been offered as to the embargo details, Skill Up expects that previews from your favorite outlets (including us) will likely go live two or three days after the initial premiere. This assumption was based entirely on the source’s familiarity with similar events and has not been confirmed by Bungie or Activision in any way.
With those details in mind, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the Destiny 2 gameplay reveal. For one, is that entire eight-hour stretch of time viewable on a stream, or is most of it exclusive to media? There’s also been very few hard details of what will be on show. Bungie officials have promised a focus on “a variety of fun, action-oriented experiences” for the “brand new epic adventure” to come. That’s not exactly the most telling tease.
Destiny 2 was officially revealed through a teaser trailer at the end of March. Humanity's last safe city has fallen to hostile invaders and players must bring together heroes scattered across the entire solar system to fight this common enemy. Veterans of the first Destiny will have to start from square one in terms of gear and progression. Overall, the goal for the sequel is to replicate the addictive nature of its predecessor while offering more accessible gameplay elements. At least two major DLC expansions are rumored for release.
Destiny 2 comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Sept. 8.
