The incoming Crucible changes have played a big role in pre-launch marketing for Destiny 2, particularly in the game’s beta, where multiplayer was the only repeatable activity available. And now a new trailer from Activision and Bungie is here to keep trying to sell us on the changes we’ll see when Destiny 2 hits PC and consoles later this year. As if anybody who’d already spent tens (or hundreds) of hours with the first game wasn’t going to abandon the sequel over PvP changes.
There isn’t any new information in this week’s competitive multiplayer trailer. The video features two minutes of new Destiny 2 gameplay, captured entirely in the Crucible, and there might be a few guns that haven’t been featured in previous trailers. We won’t pretend to have seen every second of footage that’s been put up around the web in the months since Bungie first confirmed it was working on a Destiny sequel. But there aren’t any big reveals or new maps in the Destiny 2 competitive multiplayer trailer. The only thing it’s really good for is getting PC players excited for their chance to go hands-on with the upcoming sequel later this month.
If you missed the news, the long-awaited Destiny 2 PC beta begins Monday, Aug. 28 and will continue through an unspecified date. Battle.net users who choose to participate will have access to all the same content we saw in the Destiny 2 console betas, including the game’s introductory mission, the Inverted Spire strike and a smattering of Crucible content. Bungie hasn’t said when the PC beta will end but there’s less than two weeks between its opening and the Destiny 2 release date. Maybe we’ll luck out and get an extended beta on PC?

Destiny 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game hits consoles on Sept. 6 before making the jump to PC in late October.
