The next big update for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls will debut next week, Blizzard has confirmed, and the latest influx of new content for the game should help make the game’s next competitive season one of the most exciting since the Diablo 3 expansion hit the market last year.

January is going to be a big month for Diablo 3. Back in December, Blizzard confirmed plans to launch the game’s fifth competitive season on Jan. 15, giving fans another couple of months to create and level new characters, collecting all manner of powerful equipment along the way. Of course, there won’t be season-exclusive legendary gear anymore; a change that’s sure to irk more than few members of the Diablo 3 community. But there are plenty of other changes coming this month, including a brand new Season Rebirth mechanic, which should make the next batch of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls content as enticing as anything we’ve previously seen released for the game.

As if the launch of a new season weren’t exciting enough, Blizzard has also confirmed plans to release the game’s next big update, Patch 2.4.0, sometime next week. The announcements comes courtesy of the official Diablo Twitter account, and included a link to another Diablo 3 Patch 2.4.0 preview article on the game’s website. Without a doubt, the biggest additions in the update are the new Greyhollow Island tileset, along with the all-new Set Dungeons and Empowered Rifts debuting in Patch 2.4.0.

Of course, given the sheer size of Diablo 3 Patch 2.4.0, we’ve had to pass on cross-posting patch notes for next week’s update. That said, anyone interested in reading up on all the changes coming to Diablo 3 can find patch notes for Patch 2.4.0 over on Battle.net.
