If you’re excited to go against the Lord of Terror, you may have to wait a while. That’s because Diablo IV is scheduled to debut in 2023. In addition to the PC launch, the game is also coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game is set decades after the events of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, where the world continues to be troubled by a corrupting and sinister force. Trouble is coming as the Daughter of Hatred Lilith has been reborn in the mortal world and is more than determined to once again rule over Sanctuary.
A Bigger Sanctuary
In Diablo IV, Sanctuary is now massive, where every inch is full of adventure and opportunity. Compared to the previous games in the series, the character customization is not only richer but also more extensive. There are more than 140 dungeons and lots of side quests for everyone to enjoy.
Players can also look forward to the challenges posed by the world bosses across Sanctuary and may even need to work together. In addition, players now have the chance to change the world around them by conquering the corrupted Strongholds and turning them into friendly outposts.
Newly Improved Necromancer
In the battle against Lilith, players get to choose from different iconic classes like Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, and Sorceress. Players should also be happy to know that the Necromancer class is returning and bringing newly designed mechanics. Aspiring Necromancers in the game can use the new ability called the Book of the Dead. This allows Necromancers to dominate the battlefield with deeper customization of their undead army.
Necromancers can fight using skeleton Warriors, Skirmishers, sword and board Defenders, and Reapers, to name a few. There are also a bunch of spells that can be used with Skeleton Mages and imbue them with shadow, cold, and sacrificial magics. Don’t want skeletons? Why not deploy Bone Golems, Blood Golems, or Iron Golems? Use them, or better yet, sacrifice them all and absorb their power.
Nonlinear Gaming
Regarding what class players choose, they can progress in the game in a nonlinear manner. This open-ended experience extends to the end-game, where players get to test their skills in Nightmare Dungeons, PvP zones, or Paragon Boards to continue advancing their characters beyond the max level. There are also Tree of Whispers that can be engaged to unlock additional world objectives and bounties, and Legendary gear.
In a statement, Blizzard Entertainment President Mike Ybarra shared that they’re excited to finally open the gates to hell next year. He added that the sprawling world used the 25-year history of the franchise and was designed around the principle of player choice. He went on to say that the game offers an adventure unlike anything experienced before.
