What do you get when you put Disney characters in a racing game? You have Disney Speedstorm. This is a free-to-play arcade racing experience that features iconic Disney and Pixar heroes with tracks inspired by Disney and Pixar films. If you have a hard time imagining that, we have good news. The Closed Beta for the PC version has started and it's available at the Epic Games Store and Steam.
The Closed Beta started June 8 and during this period, players can upgrade, as well as customize, their characters and progress on the single-player Adventure Map mode. On weekends, players can join Online Ranked Races to see if they have the skills to be part of a competitive racing environment.
To celebrate the rollout of the Closed Beta, players can try the ready-to-race versions of Hercules and Megara, both from the animated film Hercules. These two playable characters are joining the roster that already has:
- Belle and the Beast (The Beauty and the Beast)
- Mulan and Li Shang (Mulan)
- Captain Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann (Pirates of the Caribbean)
- Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck (Mickey & Friends)
- Baloo and Mowgli (The Jungle Book)
In a statement, Gameloft Barcelona Game Manager Aska Suzuki revealed that they are happy that players finally get their hands on the game with the Closed Beta. This is going to be the first time that the studio gets the much-needed feedback from the community. She added that they're excited to see how players respond to the game.
