Doom fans won't have to wait very long to get their hands on Doom Eternal's action-packed first DLC, The Ancient Gods. Bethesda has confirmed that the part one of the two-part DLC will be releasing on October 20.
The Ancient Gods will release on all available platforms and it continues the story after Doom Eternal's main campaign. The death of Khan Maykr has led to an imbalance in power, which is now threatening the world. The Doom Slayer has to once again protect his people by descending into hell.
The announcement was also accompanied by a brand-new trailer that showcased someof the new enemy types that players can expect to see in the expansion. It seems that players will encounter a flying demon type that is capable of releasing energy waves, while another demon looks more like a spirit that can possess other demons. The only way of defeating this spirit-type demon is by killing the host before it possesses another demon. Marauders are also back and this time you'll be fighting multiple Marauders at one time. The trailer concluded with the Doom Slayer coming face-to-face with a gigantic creature.
Players who own the year one pass for Doom Eternal are entitled to download part one of The Ancient Gods DLC for free. Everyone else will have to purchase the content separately. Even though the DLC has been announced, the pricing has yet to be revealed. Players can expect to learn more about The Ancient Gods DLC over the coming weeks.
Doom Eternal has also been confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Pre-existing Doom Eternal players are eligible for a free next-gen upgrade.
Doom Eternal is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia. The game is also set to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X, though a release date hasn't been confirmed yet.
