Just when some fans were beginning to wonder whether or not Valve planned to release a compendium for the Dota 2 Manila Major , the final stop on the road to The International 2016, the Dota 2 team surprised fans by releasing the Battle Pass for this year’s world championship.
If first impressions are any indication, an immense amount of time and effort were dedicated to designing the content and activities for The International 2016 Battle Pass . The content bundle highlights next month’s Dota 2 Manila Major, giving players a chance to earn battle points by making predictions about the tournament, while simultaneously beginning to promote this year’s world championship. And what would a new compendium/battle pass be without a few dozen new Immortal treasures for the Dota 2 community?
Of course, Immortal Treasures aren’t the only rewards being offered to those who purchase the International 2016 Battle Pass. Like the pass released to promote the Dota 2 Shanghai Major , and the Frankfurt Major before it, the TI6 Battle Pass offers a variety of rewards to players as they increase the level of their digital tournament guide. Those rewards vary, from spins of a prize wheel to new taunts and emoticons, and become more valuable as your book’s level (side note: video games are weird) continues to grow.
Wagering has also returned with the latest battle pass. Players get 1,000 coins per week, which can be bet in increments of 50, 100 or 250, to wager against one another when playing Dota 2 . There are also three new quest chains to complete, each with its own reward for those who finish, along with a series of community challenges. Valve is even trying to provide incentive for players to contribute more cash than they did in 2015, promising a round of additional treasures to everyone with an International 2016 Battle Pass if the prize pool for this year’s Dota 2 world championship surpasses the total from last year’s event.
