Valve has revealed 12of the 16teams participating in the Dota 2 Manila Major less than a week before regional qualifiers for the tournament begin, and there will be plenty of familiar faces participating for the tournament’s $3 million prize pool this June.

One week after announcing ticketing information for the Dota 2 Manila Major, Valve revealed the 12 teams that received direct invites to the last stop on the road to The International 6. Many of the teams skipping the qualifier process are squads we frequently see in major Dota 2 events, like the Majors and/or Valve’s annual championship event in Seattle, but there is one relative newcomer on the list for the Dota 2 Manila Major. Of course, seeing as there areonly 12 teams invited, and some big names didn’t make the cut, Valve used the Dota 2 blog to preemptively address concerns that will undoubtedly be expressed by segments of the community.

“We know that there will always be a talented team that doesn’t make it, which is difficult for both the fans of that team and the players themselves,” Valve wrote . “Deciding on how to handle the direct invites to our four tournaments is a difficult process, and we don’t take a specific formulaic approach to which teams are invited or how many we invite.”

Here are the 12 teams that have been invited:

  • Alliance
  • Complexity
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Fnatic
  • LGD
  • MVP
  • Natus Vincere
  • OG
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Secret
  • Vici Gaming
  • Wings Gaming

The final four teams for the Dota 2 Manila Major will be decided next week, during regional in the Americas, China, Europe and Southeast Asia that begins May 3. Three days later, we’ll know which teams are rounding out the field of competitors for the last Dota 2 Major before this year’s world championship in Seattle. That gives each squad just over one month to prepare for the teams they’ll face when the Dota 2 Manila Major begins on June 7.
