The first details on the Dota 2 Manila Major have already been released by Valve, less than a week after Team Secret took first place at the Shanghai Major, and the final stop on the road to TI6 will take place just two or three months before the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year.
Like many gamers, our attention has pretty much been locked on Tom Clancy’s The Division for the last 24-plus hours, shooting rioters and rounding up as much loot as we can get our hands on. With the Dota 2 Shanghai Major having run its course, and nothing else major on the horizon for the next few weeks, we suspect we aren’t alone. But it looks like Valve isn’t wasting any time building hype for the next stop on the road to The International 6 and the company is getting started by revealing dates and ticketing information for the Dota 2 Manila Major
According to Valve, tickets for the Dota 2 Manila Major will go on-sale this weekend, beginning at 12:00 a.m. EST on March 12. There will be three tiers of seats at the tournament, priced at ₱ 200/100/50 on weekdays and ₱ 400/200/100 during the weekends, which will be hosted at the Mall of Asia Arena. Open qualifiers for the Dota 2 Manila Major will take place next month, April 29 – May 2, followed a day later by the Manila Major Qualifiers. Teams must submit their finalized rosters by March 27 and Valve says the squads can’t be modified again until after The International.
Valve also released a new trailer for the Dota 2 Manila Major. The two-minute video includes cinematic recreations of iconic moments from recent tournaments, like Universe’s unbelievable Echo Slam at TI5, along with footage of the Philippines. Last, but certainly not least, the company also announced plans to host regional qualifiers for The International in the second half of June, shortly after the conclusion of the Dota 2 Manila Major.
