The end of a Major usually has Dota 2 teams make changes to their roster. There have been some interesting movements even before the Stockholm Major ended. There’s Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan parting ways with Team Secret.
However, many eagle-eyed fans in the community were quick to see an interesting entry in the Dota Pro Circuit Registration. The list reveals that Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka seems to be no longer part of the roster for Evil Geniuses. While no official word from both EG and JerAx to that effect, it seems a done deal.
It was in November last year when it was reported that JerAx was coming out of retirement to play with EG. While EG did have a good showing with JerAx on board, it probably wasn’t enough for the organization. It also didn’t help that EG put him in Position 5 instead of Position 4.
Fans are probably excited about where JerAx is headed next.
Odd Man Out
Moving to Western Europe, two roster changes can be seen as significant.
The first is Igor "iLTW" Filatov being released by Nigma Galaxy. It was in April 2021 when the team first brought him to their roster. While the team had a good showing, they didn't have enough points to get a direct invite to TI10. Then at the Western Europe Qualifier, they were eliminated by OG.
For the new DPC season, they finished sixth during Tour 1, barely missing a relegation to Division II. However, their luck would run out, ending eighth at Tour 2, resulting in the team going to Division II.
It's not surprising to learn that Nigma parted ways with only iLTW. After all, he is the only one who's not a member of the original team. Many fans are looking forward to seeing what Nigma will do for the rest of the season.
The King Dethroned
Another Western Europe team saying goodbye to their Position 1 player is Team Secret. After signing him up in November 2021, the team decided to part ways with SumaiL. The main reason is probably that despite the hype of SumaiL joining the team, results weren’t satisfactory with Secret only managing to get fifth place in both Tour 1 and Tour 2. Let’s see who Secret is going to sign up as a replacement for the King.
