It looks like Dota 2 teams around the world are indeed preparing for Tour 3, the last for this new DPC season. Nigma Galaxy is hoping for a much-needed change by adding Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan to its roster. Meanwhile, in North America, Evil Geniuses sees the return of its team captain Tal "Fly" Aizik.
Climbing Back
Nigma Galaxy has not been having a good performance so far in the DPC 2021–2022. At the end of Tour 1, the team barely retained being in Division I. Things didn't go so well in Tour 2 as the team ended in last place, meaning relegation to Division II.
This has led to the team eventually letting go of Igor "iLTW" Filatov. It was probably good news for Nigma that SumaiL left Team Secret. So how does Nigma look by signing SumaiL?
With SumaiL on mid, that means Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi gets back to Position 1 or the safe lane. While this is good news for SumaiL and Nigma fans, the reality is that they have a long climb ahead of them. They’ll be dealing with a lot of younger players in Division II.
Even if the team returns to Division I for the next DPC season, they’ll need to go through the qualifiers to join The International 2022. Then again, it’s not new to them so we’ll see.
The Return
Moving across the ocean to North America, Evil Geniuses made the decision to bring back Fly. It was late last year when Fly decided to leave EG and join a new region courtesy of Talon Esports in Southeast Asia. That stint lasted only one Tour, with Talon unable to get promoted to Division I.
After Fly left, EG successfully convinced Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka to come out of retirement and join the team. With JerAx onboard, the team did well in their region, finishing third in Tour 1 and first in Tour 2. However, their performance at the Stockholm Major was underwhelming, to say the least. We’ll see if Fly still has what it takes to lead a team and watch how they perform in Tour 3.
