A massive new Dota 2 patch will be released this week, according to a new post on the game’s blog. Don’t worry, there hasn’t been another shift in the game’s meta, though. Instead, Valve will use the Dota 2 Spring Cleaning to eliminate bugs and introduce new quality-of-life improvements.
There’s no particular pattern to the changes found in this week’s patch. The Dota 2 team has addressed a number of major issues, including everything from new hotkey options to improved information on the battlefield. Valve even changed the way player-muting works, separating text and voice chat into their own mutable channels, so you don’t have to block all communication from a player with a broken microphone. There are also new indicators, for tower range, tower targets and neutral spawns, that should make it bit easier to avoid tower damage and block creep camps.
Those who’ve been less-than-impressed with the Armory introduced in Dota 2 Reborn can look forward to an updated (and expanded) storage area for their items. The default Armory size has been increased, from 1080 slots to 10,000, and can now be expanded to hold a whopping 34,000 items. Valve says changes to organization, including a new section for recently acquired items, should noticeably increase Armory usability.
And that’s only a handful of the changes players will find in the Dota 2 Spring Cleaning update. The game’s community can also look forward to hero-specific hotkey settings, updated minimap icons, a streamlined settings menu and updated Dota 2 store. If that’s not enough, there are also dozens of fixes for UI issues, gameplay bugs and the game’s economy.
