There’s no question that a lot of Dota 2 fans in Southeast Asia are pretty sad right now. After all, two of their teams have been eliminated from the Stockholm Major. BOOM Esports was sent packing home by OG while T1 was defeated by Fnatic.
Grace Under Pressure
In the first game of the match, both BOOM and OG picked their comfort heroes. Wary of each other, both teams traded blows but not enough to give one side the advantage. It became that much more interesting when the cores of the two teams got their respective BKBs. Even then, neither BOOM nor OG was able to get a lead. The long game eventually favored OG whose heroes BOOM had trouble killing. With excellent plays from Tommy "Taiga" Le on Pugna, OG eventually grabbed the victory.
The second game started pretty much like the first. When team fights started happening, it became clear that OG had the advantage. After a few more kills, OG was able to take the lead. The pressure shifted to BOOM whose players started making errors which OG did not hesitate to take advantage of. In the end, it was OG who claimed the win and the match.
Battle of the SEA
While it would have been better if T1 and Fnatic faced each other in the playoffs, their match remained a treat for fans.
In the first game, there was some back-and-forth between the two teams with Fnatic getting the lead. However, once Marc Polo Luis "Raven" Fausto got the items he needed for his Chaos Knight, he was unstoppable. Despite dying early in the game, Raven showed what it means to carry the team, ending the game with 18 kills and one death.
Not to be outdone, T1 would return the favor in the second game despite Fnatic picking Chaos Knight again for Raven. T1 was in control for the most part and when Raven was forced to buyback only to die again, Fnatic knew it was over and called it GG.
The third game wasn't really about team fights but more on objectives, which was what Fnatic did slowly but surely. With Raven's Luna getting the items needed and good plays from Jaunuel "Jaunuel" Arcilla on Bane, it was clear that Fnatic was moving forward to the playoffs.
