After numerous leaks, the latest trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ confirms the inclusion of three new fighters, Goku Black, Beerus and Hit.
The latest gameplay trailer from Bandai Namco came during this year’s Jump Festa and shows off the three characters as well as what else fans can expect when the game releases in January.
Check out the new Dragon Ball FighterZ trailer below.
The new Dragon Ball FighterZ trailer starts with a familiar scene from the manga/anime. Towards the end of the Frieza Saga, the mad tyrant seeks revenge on Goku and his friends for pushing him to the limit and takes his rage out on Krillin, Goku’s best friend.
Fans of Dragon Ball know this sparks Goku’s transformation into the Legendary Super Saiyan, turning the tides of battle in his favor. The rest of the Dragon Ball FighterZ trailer intersplices scenes from the other arcs in Dragon Ball Z including the Cell Saga and Buu Saga.
It’s then that fans are treated to the first appearance of Beerus and his assistant/master Whis in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Scenes from the movie Battle of the Gods as well as the corresponding arc in the Dragon Ball Super anime are also recreated in the Dragon Ball FighterZ engine.
Hit, the assassin of Universe 6, and Goku Black (complete with Super Saiyan Rose transformation) also show off their first gameplay.
While the inclusion of Hit, Goku Black and Beerus were expected, being able to replay some of the iconic moments of Dragon Ball is new to Dragon Ball FighterZ. It was revealed that there will be an original story, overseen by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, with a brand new character that has a connection to the androids.
However, perhaps there will be a different mode that lets players go through the Dragon Ball saga in a similar fashion that Dragon Ball Xenoverse did.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will release for PS4, Xbox One and PC on Jan. 26.
