A new trailer for Capcom’s remaster of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is out this week. Much will be familiar about the project at this point, since the game debuted in 2012 and the PC remaster has been available on Steam since January 2016. But it’s a nice reminder that one of the best action-RPGs of the last console generation hits PS4 and Xbox One this fall.
The new Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen trailer features brief snippets of footage from throughout the campaign. A handful of pawns are shown, along with the Arisen, and the upcoming remaster looks noticeably better than the original. The new DD:DA trailer does have its fair share of spoilers, so consider yourself warned if this is your first time seeing the game. We don’t think you’re going to unravel all the game’s secrets after seeing a few minutes of footage. But it does include snippets of several boss encounters and people get pretty sensitive about that stuff these days.
According to the trailer, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen will be released to Japanese consumers on Oct. 5. But we’ll have to keep waiting for Western release dates. Capcom previously committed to a fall 2017 launch timeline and there’s no reason to think they’ll miss that window. Let’s just hope DD:DA doesn’t become one of those end of year releases that inevitably gets pushed to the following spring. And that there’s enough support for the remaster to convince Capcom to bring Dragon’s Dogma Online to North America.
