Everbyte revealed in a statement that testers have found this final episode to be an emotional rollercoaster ride due to multiple twists experienced before the culprit is ultimately unmasked.
Even before this new content was released, there have been rumors in online communities that a second season, or even a sequel, was in the works. While Everbyte did not confirm anything, the studio did tease some information about the next episode that can be found in the final episode and only becomes accessible once the case is solved.
Duskwood is a modern detective game where players are tasked to look for Hannah Donford, a girl who vanished under mysterious circumstances. Players use messenger and other multimedia content like voice messages, video chats, and pictures to find the kidnapper.
The story begins in the titular small and quaint village surrounded by a dense forest. Despite being a remote area, it’s rare for strangers to get lost but when they do, they often describe the place as weird or scary. Still, that has not bothered those who live in the village.
Things changed when a girl disappeared, and it seemed that the mysterious legends surrounding the forest had come to life. There has been no trace of Hannah and then one day, her friends received a message from her phone. The message only has a phone number: the player's number.
