EA Sports UFC 4 revealed that it is set to be released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 14. This latest version will offer a new experience as it puts the player and their created fighter at the center of the action. It’s going to have a new unified progression system with the takedown and ground mechanics being overhauled. In addition, the clinch-to-strike combinations have been made more fluid.
EA also announced that the game’s official cover athlete duo are UFC middleweight champion Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya and UFC welterweight contender Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal.
In the latest addition to the UFC franchise, players get to shape their fighter through their fight style, achievements, and personality. The all-new unified progression system allows players to develop and customize characters across all modes. A good example would be the new Career Mode where players can start as an unknown amateur and work their way to becoming a UFC superstar. There are also going to be new arenas to fight in that include The Kumite, The Backyard, UFC Apex, and Action Avenue. That’s not all as the game also offers more than 1,600 new pieces of earnable gear with at least 120 emotes. This should allow players to be able to add their personality while working their way to becoming the best fighter.
UFC President Dana White said in a press release that this is the best fighting game ever made, with players getting the chance to fight it out in top arenas like Kumite and Backyard environments. He went on to say that the “game allows you to play with the top athletes in UFC history.”
Meanwhile, Adesanya shared that as “the face of the new wave of UFC fighters,” there is no question that “it feels right to represent the sport on this new generation UFC game.” Masvidal, meanwhile, said that MMA isn’t just about the belt since it’s also “about who you are as a person and the determination that drives a fighter to go from unknown to selling out arenas all over the world.”
In the same press release, EA Sports UFC Creative Director Brian Hayes revealed that this is the most authentic MMA game ever. Hayes added that they managed to create “a visceral fighting experience that allows players to create their own UFC legacy with Create a Fighter, explore the origins of MMA through our new fighting grounds and be in full control of every strike and takedown with our overhauled core gameplay mechanics.”
