Publisher BiliBili and developer Wildfire Games have just announced that their action-adventure 2D role-playing game Eastern Exorcist will soon be available on Steam Early Access. Eastern Exorcist's launch date is scheduled for August 14 with a PlayStation 4 version that is currently in the works and is expected to follow “later down the line”.
Eastern Exorcist is a side-scrolling action-adventure RPG that is set in an Asian-inspired fantasy world filled with the most breathtaking landscapes and a deadly infestation of vicious demon monsters and other unnatural creatures. Players assume the role of a skilled exorcist that will fight through the in-game world against chaotic evil beings and dangerous monsters that hide beneath the perilous landscape.
Founder of Wildfire Game Shaoyan Chen provided details regarding the game’s aesthetics and gameplay in a press release. “We wanted Eastern Exorcist to be as striking to watch as it is captivating to play. That’s why this is a hand-drawn adventure where the flow of a fight appears as rich and real on screen as it feels in the hands of the person playing it," he stated. "We can’t wait to see gamers take on the game’s league of beasts in play.”
Eastern Exorcist boasts its “all hand-drawn Chinese ink painting styles with many atmospheric scenes” which undeniably looks gorgeous in the trailer. As for its gameplay, we’ve been given a glimpse through the two-minute video posted above. Eastern Exorcist already looks satisfying and polished and we can’t wait until its launch date to try it out. The unnamed protagonist’s main weapon is a sword and he can be seen slashing and dicing both minions and bosses with a slew of different attacks and combos. It also looks like your weapon can be upgraded to contain elemental damage such as fiery slashes, strikes that call lightning, and more.
Eastern Exorcist is set to launch for PC via Steam Early Access on August 14. For those looking to try it out before it releases, a free demo can also be downloaded on its Steam Page, which you can check out here.
