FromSoftware apparently has a lot of projects under development but Elden Ring 2 is not one of them, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed.

Miyazaki said during the PlayStation Partner Awards that they are not currently considering a sequel for its highly popular action RPG. He added that the studio could still develop the Elden Ring brand in some other way in the future.

Elden Ring Sequel

The game director teased multiple projects that they were working on coming from different genres. Some of the projects that are being worked on right now will be handled by other developers within FromSoftware.

The studio has established a solid foundation with regard to challenging gameplay and esoteric storytelling in its titles. However, it has not yet been able to release multitudes of sequels for its various games.

Its core franchises include Dark Souls and Armored Core but it has also tried to experiment with the Bloodborne and Sekiro series. Many fans believe that the projects under development could include one or more of these brands, according to Kotaku.

The fact that Miyazaki revealed that the projects are from different genres suggest that FromSoftware could be planning even further ahead. Some people are speculating whether or not there will be a real-time strategy game in the works by the studio.

Kadokawa Corporation is currently the largest external investor for FromSoftware. Sony recently made an offer to the company to purchase the Elden Ring developer. There are still no official details about this potential deal.

Working on Various Projects

A lot of fans are also hoping that FromSoftware is working on the latest entry in the Dark Souls franchise. The series has been frozen in time for nearly a decade now. Others are eager to get a sequel to Bloodborne, IGN said.

The idea that Elden Ring could get a sequel was probably the most obvious if the studio decided to go this route. This is because the game was able to sell more than 25 million copies since it was released.

FromSoftware's latest release for Elden Ring is the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion that added a ton of new content but was not really a sequel. It featured the same basic mechanics and open-world setting that made the original so popular.

It introduced a large new map that was filled with various secrets to discover and challenging bosses to take on. The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion also added new gameplay mechanics that shook up the meta, according to WCCFTech.
