Gears of War 5 is coming out later this year, but esports company ELEAGUE is already organizing the game’s first professional tournament. Called the ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series Invitational, the tournament will be the first pro gaming competition for the latest release in the Gears of War franchise.
Scheduled to take place from July 13 to July 14 (nearly two months before the official release date of Gears 5), the tournament will definitely be an interesting event to showcase what’s new in the latest Gears of War title.
The ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series Invitational will take place at the ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta, where eight pro gaming teams will compete for the title. The teams participating in the tournament will be OpTic Gaming, Ghost Gaming, Team Reciprocity, EU’S Finest, Simplicity, Mazer, Glory, and Rise Nation. All of these teams are experienced and well-versed in Gears of War combat and gameplay, but since this will be the first time Gears 5 will be played competitively, there’s bound to be surprises for the players and the audience alike.
Folks familiar with the Gears of War competitive scene will find that the tournament will be hosted, and casted by Gears veterans and pro-scene icons such as Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez, Jordan “Ribs” Ribeiro, and Jacob “PR” Arce, among others.
ELEAGUE is an esports brand owned and operated by Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. And WME | IMG. Now, ELEAGUE adds yet another competitive title to the list, Gears of War 5, marking a first for the game’s esports scene.
Gears of War 5, or just Gears 5, is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 10, 2019. However, if you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can get four days early-access to the game starting on September 6.
