In the gaming community, there’s always this debate on which version is better: PC or Console. However, within the PC group, there’s also a division. If you’re a PC player, you probably have an idea. It’s that most games are made for Windows.
The good news is that EVE Online is doing something to balance the scales. This highly unique MMO game will run as a native app on macOS Big Sur.
Developer CCP said that they're focusing on enabling native support. This support will also head over to Metal - Apple’s powerful graphics processing framework. The live public testing for native macOS intel-based client will launch in Q1 2021. The Metal-powered client, meanwhile, will go live in the first half of 2021.
CCP Games CEO shared that they’ve always aimed at being able to give players the best possible experience. He added: “by bringing EVE Online natively to macOS, we are continuing that journey in ensuring that our definitive sci-fi MMO will have a home on the Mac far into the future.”
EVE Online Executive Producer Sveinbjörn Magnússon revealed that they successfully improved “the foundation upon which EVE Online is built” by building “natively for macOS Big Sur.” He explained that they used the Metal API and other Apple development tools.
They were “able to better utilize system resources to bring beautiful visuals, features and performance gains to the Mac, which is key to providing an enjoyable gameplay experience on the native macOS EVE client.”
Details on how to take part in the beta will become available ahead of launch.

As a macOS user, I for one am excited about this news. What about you?
