Yesterday we reported that Season 5 for Fallout 76 was extended until September 21. However, just a little later in the day, developer Bethesda had a change of heart. It looks like Season 6 started as scheduled.
So what happened? The Fallout 76 team said that there were some issues discovered, particularly in Season 5 rank-ups. It seemed that those who purchased ranks using Atoms weren’t able to claim the rewards. Because of this, the initial decision was to delay the launch of Season 6 until the issue was resolved.
The team revealed in an updated post that they managed to find a workaround on the issue and launched Season 6 on schedule. Their solution was rather straightforward when you think about it. They had realized that there were no issues and players received the rewards earned through rank-ups. What the team simply did was to disable rank-up purchases at the start of the new season and offer it again once the issue has been resolved.
The team assured players that once the fix is released, they are going to get the correct rewards from Season 5. In addition, because of the confusion and inconvenience caused by the initial announcement, there will be Double XP and Double S.C.O.R.E. Daily Challenge events until September 13.
