Fallout 76 launched Update 22 today, which offers a lot of new content. There’s One Wasteland which should make adventuring in Appalachia that much better. There’s also the Legendary Perks and Daily Ops. The arrival of the new update also means the start of Season 2.
Today we take a quick look at what this new content has to offer.
One exciting new feature that arrived with the update is One Wasteland. What this does is it adjusts creature levels in order to closely match the players they encounter. This makes adventuring as a group easier since the creatures increase their level for high-level players and drop for the lower-level ones. You can learn more about this new feature here.
The new update also means the start of Season 2. There’s a new S.C.O.R.E. board which offers 100 ranks for players to achieve for the next 10 weeks. A new S.C.O.R.E. board also means new rewards, so that should be exciting for everyone. Be prepared as well for a number of changes that come with the new season. Read more on that here.
That leaves us with the two new features.
Legendary Perks
The first are Legendary Perks which are new high-level Perk Cards for players that managed to reach level 50. Level 50 is where players get to unlock their first Legendary Perk Slot. After that, they unlock additional slots at levels 75, 100, 150, 200, and 300. That’s a total of six slots.
Legendary Perk Slots are going to be available account-wide, which means that all the characters that players have created get access to the perk slots as soon as they are unlocked. This includes characters that have yet to reach level 50.
In addition to Legendary Perks, Perk Coins are also introduced. These can be used to increase the power of Legendary Perk Cards by upgrading them. Players can earn Perk Coins by scrapping their unused normal Perk Cards, with each one scrapped handing out two Perk Coins per rank.
Daily Ops
Daily Ops are for players that want to put their skills to the test. These are instanced, randomized, and repeatable encounters. Considering the challenges that they offer, Daily Ops are recommended for characters that are at least level 50.
The first Game Mode for Daily Ops is known as Uplink. Here players need secure a series of Uplinks in order to track down and destroy enemies that pose a threat to Appalachia. For Daily Ops, players go against enemies coming from a single faction that are affected by a unique “mutation.” Each day, the Daily Ops are going to offer fresh combinations of locations, enemy factions, and enemy mutations. These are:
- Locations
- The Burrows
- The Burning Mine
- Valley Galleria
- Vault 94
- Enemy Factions
- Super Mutants
- Blood Eagles
- Robots
- Enemy Mutations
- Piercing Gaze
- This mutation is always applied to enemies with the “Uplink” Daily Ops mode, and gives them greatly enhanced perception of players.
- Volatile
- Enemies explode on death.
- Active Camouflage
- Enemies are cloaked when not attacking.
- Resilient
- Enemies can only be killed by a melee attack.
- Freezing Touch
- Enemy attacks freeze players.
- Piercing Gaze
Similar to the “A Colossal Problem” event, creatures in Daily Ops drop ammo based on the weapons the players are using when they take the creatures down. This should help keep ammo reserves topped off through lots of combat.
Players can also repeat Daily Ops as often as they would like each day, and they receive a base set of rewards every time they complete one. However, there are three additional reward tiers that players can reach once per day by completing a Daily Op within certain time limits:
- Initiate Tier: 16 minutes or less
- Paladin Tier: 12 minutes or less
- Elder Tier: 8 minutes or less
The higher the tier achieved, the higher the chances to get better rewards. Rewards include more XP, larger amounts of in-game currencies, legendary items, and even brand-new items like the War Glaive, which is a customizable two-handed melee weapon.
It’s no question there are a lot of new things happening in Appalachia. Learn more about everything that arrived in Update 22 here.
