While we’ve known that FIFA will come to the Nintendo Switch, we now have confirmation from EA that the game will, in fact, be FIFA 18. Similar to previous FIFA games on Nintendo consoles, the version coming to the Switch will not be identical to the PS4, PC and Xbox One versions.
This news comes from Gamereactor, who attended a FIFA event in Paris over the weekend. While talking to Peter Moore, EA’s chief competitive officer, Gamereactor confirmed the Switch news, and even found out the Switch version of FIFA 18’s release window.
"Well, as we have said, we are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch," Moore said. "It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out." Based on previous years, we can expect to see FIFA 18 out in mid September, probably Sept. 12 or 19, seeing as how those are Tuesdays.
As for the Switch version of FIFA 18, Moore said that EA Canada will be working on the game. This is the same development team behind the Xbox One, PC and PS4 versions, so hopefully the Switch version isn’t going to be too different from the big boys.
Moore also confirmed that while he is excited for the Switch, FIFA 18 remains the only EA game in development for the new console. This means anyone who was holding out hope for a way to play Mass Effect: Andromeda on the go might want to start moving on.
So what do you think? Are you interested in seeing what EA has in store for FIFA 18 on the Switch? Do you think you’ll just stick to the PS4, PC and Xbox One versions? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
