Nintendo’s first foray into the mobile gaming space was the social media app Miitomo , w h i c h was a resounding success with over 10 million unique users worldwide. Now, Nintendo has announced two new mobile games coming this fall.
The first is a Fire Emblem game that Nintendo hopes to make more accessible than previous Fire Emblem games. Nintendo aims to bring the role-playing strategy game to mobile users.
Animal Crossing mobile will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems like the 3DS and Wii U. By playing both Animal Crossing games (console and mobile) users will find “increased enjoyment,” which sounds like some special perks will unlock.
Both Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing mobile will have their own pure app. Nintendo said that there will be more prominent game elements than in Miitomo, and that the apps will tie closely into the dedicated games business.
Nintendo promises more details on both mobile games closer to the release dates.
During an earnings meeting, Nintendo also gave some updates on the aforementioned Miitomo, including some impressive numbers. Nintendo also has, to date, sparked more than 300 million conversations in Miitomo and users have created more than 20 million “Miifotos.”
To celebrate reaching 10 million users, Nintendo will run a special 10-day “Celebrating 10 Million Users!” promotion April 29-May 8. We’ll update with details about the special promotion when we get closer to the date.
