The First Contact Day celebration of Star Trek Online is finally here. Beginning April 1 and until April 22, PC and console players can take part in three events, and everyone can access it through the new Event UI.
Before we take a look into the details, players should be happy to know that there’s a 20% ship sale from April 1 to April 5. The offer is not limited to ships but also includes fleet modules, dry docks slots, and even ship upgrade tokens. Don’t forget to grab this chance to get the ship that you’ve always wanted.
First Contact Celebration Day
Going back to the celebration, here are the three events:
- Players can compete with four other players to build and launch their very own Phoenix Rocket for the “First Contact Day Re-Enactment” TFO.
- Players can join with Seven-of-Nine as they travel back to April 4, 2063, in the “One Night in Bozeman” TFO.
- Players can team up with other Captains to do as much good as they can before being overrun by the Synths in the “Synth Wave.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be a celebration without these rewards:
- First Contact Day Badge Box:
- Completing either of the participating activities once per day, per account, earn players a First Contact Day Badge Box.
- Opening this box grants players the opportunity to choose between 17 never-before-released Comm Badges as account-wide unlocks.
- First Contact Day Event Grand Prize:
- Upon reaching 14 days of Progress, players become eligible to claim the Grand Prize, which includes the Martian Mining Laser (ground weapon).
- First Contact Day Bundle and it contains:
- 1x Captain Specialization Point (cannot reclaim).
- 25,000 Dilithium Ore (cannot reclaim).
- “Launch Toy Rocket” Social Device (Account Unlock).
- Holo-Emitter – Phoenix Shuttle (Account Unlock).
- Bonus Rewards:
- After claiming the Grand Prize, players can unlock the option of earning additional Dilithium Ore each day, starting at 8,000 Dilithium Ore for the first day’s completion.
Finally, there’s the Zen Buyout Option for players who are interested in instantly completing the First Contact Day Event. They are provided an updated method for buying where they can now purchase the remaining progress that they need, for a scaling amount of Zen.
First Day Contact celebration arrives with a patch that introduces improvements on PC and consoles. You can read the complete patch notes here.
Did the Joke Backfire?
For April Fool’s Day, STO said that an upcoming expansion will introduce players to an entirely new world. It’s about love but a different kind of love. Calling it "Date Your Starship," it literally represents a dating simulation where players get to “date” their favorite starships. While the joke was indeed gold, the problem was it seems many players actually want it to happen.
Read about the prank here.
What about you? Are you okay with STO having a dating simulation?
