It’s official: Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) will suit up as Kid Flash in The Flash Season 3 premiere episode, “Flashpoint.” Why now instead of last season? We don’t have the answer to that question, but we do have two awesome photos of Keiynan Lonsdale in full Kid Flash costume.
The Flash Season 2 teased Wally’s impending superhero alter-ego around every corner. When Harrison Wells and Barry recreate the particle accelerator explosion after Zoom took away The Flash’s speed, Wally West and Jesse ‘Quick’ Chambers Wells were hit with the speed force. After the incident, neither showed signs of transformation like Barry Allen did when he got his powers for the first time. When The Flash Season 2 finale came around, it became pretty clear Wally and Jesse’s speedster identities would not develop in the same way Barry’s did, which is why this latest reveal is quite interesting.
Is Kid Flash only a result of Barry Allen’s horrible decision to go back in time and save his mother, thus creating an alternate timeline where Kid Flash already has his powers? Or, are Wally West’s newfound abilities tied to the events of last season? Either way, when Barry wakes up with no speed, it’s comforting to know that Kid Flash will be there to help.
