Former developers for "STALKER: Call of Pripyat" announced a new survival FPS game coming to PC, "Foreign Reigns," that is also planned to arrive on consoles.
Developer VG Entertainment Studio is bringing the story-driven first-person shooter that is set in a post-apocalyptic Paris to the video game industry. In this game, the majority of humanity has already been wiped out and nature has reclaimed much of the world.
Forest Reigns Revealed
"Forest Reigns" is a survival crafting game that has a non-linear story as well as a forest that can serve as both an ally and foe in different situations. All of these factors make the upcoming title unique from other games in the genre.
Studio head Ruslan Didenko said that the team always had a passion for creating "system-driven games." These are titles where the player's freedom of action is responsible for shaping the story and providing unique playthrough experiences, according to IGN.
He added that after spending years in multiplayer online production, they are now going back to their roots with the upcoming game.
Didenko described "Forest Reigns" as a single-player FPS that has a twisted story, exploration, survival, role-playing elements, and an interactive environment.
Didenko added that "Forest Reigns" is the most daring concept that they have attempted to explore. He noted that the team aims to bring something cool and fresh for players to have fun with.
An Interactive Environment
One feature players can experience in the game is that if they are in a gunfight and make too much noise, great vines covering the streets could come to life and choke them to death.
There are also possibilities of new routes opening up after fauna respond to players' presence in the area, PCGamesN said.
It seems like "Forest Reigns" is not just reminiscent of "Crysis" but also "Far Cry" and the classic "STALKER" franchise. In the game, players will find that resources are scarce, and they will be forced to scavenge if they want to stay alive.
The weapons that you acquire or craft can be upgraded and customized to fit your playstyle. Additionally, you will have an advantage against enemies using improvised gear. You are free to align yourself with any of the factions who are trying to take control of the city.
VG Entertainment Studio's reveal of "Forest Reigns" included a trailer that showed players damaging a tree after a bullet bounced from a boar-like creature and inviting the ire of nature, according to Game Spot.
