Looks like Bungie wants to try a different way of selling content. From now on, all Destiny 2 expansions and season passes will be made available on a standalone basis. And in line with this change, the studio is offering the three-part Year 2 Annual Pass completely free with Destiny 2: Forsaken.
Forsaken is basically the epic expansion responsible for starting Destiny 2 Year 2. The Annual Pass, on the other hand, is a three-part collection of smaller DLCs, all of which were rolled out over nine months as three seasons of content.
Initially, Bungie priced Forsaken at $40 and the Annual Pass at $35. But now, you can get Forsaken bundled with the Annual Pass, and all you need to spend is $25. Of course, there is no doubt that this is a good deal moving forward. Still, there are questions that need answers.
Earlier this year, the studio revealed that in order to reduce barriers to newer Destiny 2 players, it would sell all of the pre-Shadowkeep content in a brand new all-in-one bundle for only $40. But because of New Light, the game’s free to play entry point arriving this October, everything in Year 1 is going to be free. And since the Annual Pass is now bundled free with Forsaken, you can expect it to include everything pre-Shadowkeep. So, if you are going to buy Forsaken now, you can get all of Year 2 along with it. And given it is only $25, no doubt it is worth every penny.
So, how about the new $40 bundle Bungie unveiled before? Is it still coming? If so, could it effectively raise the price on Forsaken? With the price hike (if it indeed happens), does it justify the increase? Is it even worth it at all?
Obviously, the aforementioned are just some of the many questions Destiny 2 players have right now. Unfortunately for them, they have to wait a little bit longer as Bungie has yet to provide an official statement to explain the new changes. Well, at least for now, things are looking good for the entire franchise.
