Remember Forspoken, the new IP by Square Enix. Well, we still do. Very little is known about the mysterious title, but it seems like that will change soon enough. There is a very good chance that the upcoming game will be shown during the PlayStation Event.
The PS event will take place on September 9 to show some first-party and third-party games. You can check out our previous article for more information about the event.
Content Pending?
Ella Balinska, who plays the main protagonist in the game, posted on Instagram that new Forspoken content is coming. As shown above, the image caption was " @forspoken content pending…" Given the fact that Forspoken is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, I would bet that the “new content” will be revealed during the event.
Release Date
Forspoken was first announced during a PS event back in June 2020. The game was marked under the working title “Project Athia.” In March 2021, it was revealed that the title of the game was changed to Forspoken. The actual release date hasn’t been revealed yet. However, it is known that the game will launch sometime in 2022. Still, I won’t be surprised if it gets delayed.
Platform and Exclusivity Deal
As mentioned above, Forspoken is a console exclusive to PS5, so don't expect it on PlayStation 4 and Xbox. But the game will arrive on PC. It has also been announced that the exclusivity period is 24 months. With that, hope is not lost for Xbox players. They could still play the game two years after launch.
About The Game
Forspoken is developed using the Luminous Engine, the same used for Final Fantasy XV. The engine has been drastically improved, which is why it won’t run on older platforms. It will feature ray tracing, AMD’s FSR, and superior lighting. We don’t know if the PC version will support DLSS 2.0 or not. The game’s story is being written by Gary Whitta, the co-writer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
