Fortnite Chapter 4 is now live and with it is a pretty big update for Creative Mode that adds a new player movement, as well as new weapons that players can use.
First, Fortnite just looks incredibly nice, now thanks to Unreal Engine 5.1. Certain features like Nanites and Temporal Super Resolution are now available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions of the game. Moreover, DirectX 12 is now the default rendering mode on PC, which is great for players who are using higher-end GPUs.
New Player Movement
There’s a bunch of new stuff added in Fortnite Creative. Update v23.00 adds a new player movement called hurdling, where players can hurdle over obstacles just by sprinting through them. This new feature can be enabled or disabled in the settings.
While it’s great that hurdling is now available in Creative Mode, it is currently busted in that players cannot actually go over barriers. Hopefully, Epic Games can resolve this issue soon.
New Guns
Update v23.00 introduces five new guns as well. Those who prefer using weapons that pack a punch can use the new Thunder and Maven Auto shotguns. The former is a double-barreled shotgun that deals significant damage when fired very close to the target. The latter shoots faster but deals less damage compared to the Thunder Shotgun.
Players who like a fast-firing weapon might love the new Twin Mag SMG. As the name implies, this submachine gun has two magazines that allow players to quickly reload to the second magazine after the first one is depleted. However, reloading both magazines takes a couple of seconds longer, so take this into consideration when utilizing this gun.
The Red-Eye Assault Rifle has a convenient red dot at the center of the screen when players aim down sights. This gives players a crutch to help them land more accurate shots.
Rounding out the new weapons is the Tactical Pistol. This is a fast-firing pistol that lets players quickly dispatch enemies easily.
