Fortnite has again made changes related to the B.R.U.T.E. This time it has lowered the spawn rate of the mech, though this is limited to Storm phases 3-6 in core modes. According to the Fortnite team, the spawn rates for the Arena spawn remain unchanged.
The B.R.U.T.E. was first introduced in early August. However, it was seen as too powerful with many players asking for it to be removed. Initially Fortnite said that it wasn't making any changes. After a strong campaign from players, Fortnite caved in and agreed to some adjustments. Some of the changes included lowering the maximum number of rockets fired and the rate at which they were fired.
For this particular adjustment, Fortnite hopes that it reduces the impact of the B.R.U.T.Es during late-game scenarios while at the same time continue to have a presence in the early game. These include:

Aside from the mech, the hotfix also implemented a number of other changes. The damage of the Automatic Sniper, for example, had its damage increased to 40/42/44 from 31/33/35. The Fortnite team said that compared to other Sniper Rifles, this weapon was underperforming. By making this adjustment to the damage, it should make it more desirable to some players as an alternative choice for a long-range weapon.
The hotfix also vaulted and unvaulted weapons, which include:
- Vaulted
- Combat Shotgun
- Drum Shotgun
- Proximity Launcher
- Unvaulted
- Suppressed Assault Rifle (Epic/Legendary)
The Team also made changes to the Retail Row. Originally this point of interest was planned to be a drop location that was high risk and high reward. However, it appeared that the reward outweigh the risk. The change involved lowering the availability of Obelisks, which means that gathering rare loot now needs a little more time investment. Specifically, the changes are:
- Reduced the maximum number of Spawn Obelisks from 7 to 5.
- Increased the time before Spawn Obelisks respawn to a max of 30 seconds (previously a max of 5 seconds).
- The respawn timer for Spawn Obelisks is on a loop and time may vary between 1-30 seconds.
- Decreased the chance to drop Rocket Launchers from destroyed Spawn Obelisks from 18.46% to 10%
- Decreased the chance to drop Jump Pads from destroyed Spawn Obelisks from 50% to 40%
