'Fortnite' Streamlines Battle Passes, Gives Players an Easy Way To Get All Premium Rewards

Epic Games reveals plans to overhaul the current Battle Pass system in Fortnite to make it easier for players to earn premium rewards. Epic Games

Epic Games announced that it is overhauling battle passes for Fortnite's different modes which will make it easier for players to get premium rewards.

The new mechanic will make it faster for you to progress through each battle pass simultaneously regardless of what mode you are playing. The studio said that they will introduce a simple way for players to acquire all premium passes at the same time.

Fortnite Battle Pass

How battle passes currently work is that you can progress through Fortnite's Battle Royale Battle Pass by earning experience from in-game activities. However, the Festival Pass and LEGO Pass can only be progressed by playing in those respective modes.

But starting from Nov. 2, 2024, all experience that players earn, regardless of what mode it is from, will progress to the Battle Pass and Music Pass. Then, starting from Dec. 1, 2024, the new changes will also apply to the LEGO Pass, according to Eurogamer.

As part of the planned changes, the Music and LEGO Pass will transition to a format that resembles the Battle Pass. This means that there will be one track that features both free and premium rewards.

However, this particular overhaul will not take effect until the end of the current LEGO Pass and Music Pass. The changes will also lead to Epic Games removing the Festival Points mechanics alongside Battle Stars and Studs.

The latest change comes as Epic Games continues to make efforts to make Fortnite a platform that features a ton of studio- and creator-made experience. Currently, it is simply considered as one main mode, The Verge said.

Quality-of-Life Changes

Epic Games will also let players directly buy a reward on a pass that they might be interested in. This means that they will be able to skip having to earn experience just to get the item that they want in the Battle Pass.

The studio announced the planned changes ahead of the end of the current Marvel-themed season in Fortnite. It is now teasing a new live event and said that the next season will come back to the Chapter 2 island.

Many players consider the planned changes to the Battle Pass a massive quality-of-life improvement to the current system. This is because they will no longer have to play Festival at all in order to complete the pass for that particular mode.

Others are concerned that the overhaul might be accompanied by the removal or severe nerfing of passive experience from Festival and LEGO Fortnite.

This is because the quests for these modes will now award experience instead of a mode-specific currency, according to Game Spot.
