Though Season 6 has been full of presumed dead Game of Thrones characters returning, it’s harder to imagine a bigger longshot resurrection than Arya Stark’s sword instructor from Season 1. Yet compelling evidence is mounting that Syrio Forel will indeed return in Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 8, “No One.” But if the rumors prove true there’s only one scenario that makes much sense: Syrio Forel is going to try and murder Arya Stark.
First, let’s look at the evidence. The silhouette behind the Waif in this promo still sure looks like Syrio Forel:
But that’s far from conclusive. But what if this promo still coincided with the Syrio Forel actor Miltos Yerolemou making an appearance on a Game of Thrones discussion show and straight up telling us that his character has a strong relationship with the House of Black and White (the guild of Faceless Men trying to murder Arya)? And then what if he tweeted about it?
That’s good enough evidence for me. Except, here’s the thing… it probably won’t be Syrio Forel at all. In the last episode of Game of Thrones the Waif failed to kill Arya Stark. The next logical step would be for her boss, Jaqen H’ghar, to step in and handle it personally, like when Shredder has to fix a Bebop and Rocksteady boof.
And what better face for Jaqen H’ghar to wear than that of the one person in the world Arya might actually trust?
Syrio Forel won’t be back in Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 8 “No One,” but it’s looking more and more like his skin will be.
