A new Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer has footage in it from the upcoming Game of Thrones Season 7. The video has lots of characters from Game of Thrones, because it’s a Game of Thrones trailer. All your favorite characters are here, especially that one you really identify with. There are even familiar Game of Thrones locations, like wall… and… castles. As far as Game of Thrones trailers go, this one has all the ingredients you’d expect from a Game of Thrones trailer.
But you don’t have to listen to me list things, when anyone can watch it for themselves using convenient local wifi or their own wired connection or even cellular data!
Jon Snow is making some sort of alliance, probably with Daenerys. This alliance takes him north of the Wall again. If snow is any indication, Sandor “The Hound” Clegane will be along to do some killing. Lightning Lord Beric Dondarrion too. And he’s brought his flaming sword.
We also see a lot of Lannister armies at war. Whether they’re battling Dorne or Daenerys is unclear, but the embattled seem determined to take the initiative and bring war to the enemies closing in on King’s Landing and the Iron Throne.
It looks like Bran has made it back to Winterfell to reunite with his adopted brother Jon Snow and his sister Sansa Stark. There’s a quick shot of him in a wheelchair beneath Winterfell’s weirwood tree; the editing implies that he’s engaged in psychic / warg warfare with the Night’s King who leads the White Walkers.
A Greyjoy fleet sails for King’s Landing. This could be the Iron Fleet seized by Yara and Theon, but is more likely to be Euron Greyjoy, whose plan probably involves a strategic marriage with Cersei.
In addition to Lannister armies and undead armies, the trailer also gives us Dothraki cavalry and Grey Worm’s Unsullied.
That’s about all I saw!
It all looks very action-y. Does anybody else miss sitting around and listening to the Small Council bicker? No?
Action is the main promise of this season. Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres July 16.
