Gears of War 4 releases at midnight on Oct. 11, and if you want to get a physical copy, you’ll need to find a store doing a midnight release. Before you head out, be sure to call ahead to see if the store will even be open.
GameStop has the most pre-order bonuses, if you’re into that kind of thing. Pre-ordering Gears of War 4 at GameStop will get you the Vintage Reyna character, "Brothers to the End" Elite Gear Pack and the limited edition, Vintage Del Elite Gear Pack which includes the Hot Rod Gnasher and Foam Lancer weapon skins. Additionally, those who pre-order at GameStop will get physical Gear Pack cards that unlock digital rewards. These physical cards are exclusive to GameStop.
Pre-ordering at other locations like Best Buy, Walmart and Target will also earn you the Elite Gear Pack with the Vintage Del character. Each location has its own custom weapon skins, however. Target pre-orders get the Marcus Tattoo Gnasher weapon skin, Walmart gets the Outsider Lancer weapon skin and Best Buy gets the Black Walnut Gnasher weapon skin.
You can find your nearest GameStop using the store locator tool. If you are looking for other stores, the Target store locator is here, the Best Buy locator is here and the Walmart locator is here.
If you want to stay warm inside, you can also download the game through your Xbox One or PC. You’ll be able to start playing right at midnight (or 9 p.m. if you live on the West Coast), but you don’t get that midnight release rush.
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our Gears of War 4 review. While the game is an excellent Gears of War game, we felt it did suffer from being too similar to what we’ve already played. If you are a Gears of War fan, you’ll still find plenty to love, and Horde mode just keeps getting better and better.
So what do you think? Will you be heading out tonight to get your copy of Gears of War 4? Do you think you’ll just download it instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
