If you've always wanted to know what it means to work at the Krusty Krab then this game is for you. SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off lets you get behind the grill and serve orders to the population of Bikini Bottom including many of the main cast of SpongeBob SquarePants. The game will release on both iOS and Android devices this winter.
In the game, players play as SpongeBob and cook Krabby Patties in a competition against other players. It's not just about cooking, however, as players also get the chance to go around and explore Bikini Bottom and customize their underwater kitchens. They even get to interact with familiar characters from the hit TV show. More details like the release timing are expected to be announced at a later date.
Nukebox Studios CEO Amit Hardi said in a statement that the TV show has managed to capture audiences of all ages for two decades. As such, the company is more than happy to have access to Nickelodeon’s cast of characters and funny storylines. Hardi went on to say that they are "honored to bring SpongeBob’s colorful characters to life and are pleased to see how well they fit with our brand of gameplay."
Meanwhile, Tilting Point President Samir El-Agili said that Nukebox has been one of their trusted partners in the past, so it made sense that this new game would be co-developed with them. After the success that was Food Truck Chef, there was no other choice in developers for a cooking game. El-Agili added that considering Nukebox has "deep understanding of fun and fast-paced gameplay experiences, we know they will create a rich and complete cooking game, all while perfectly capturing the joy and spirit of SpongeBob.”
SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is being developed through a partnership with Nickelodeon, Tilting Point, and Nukebox Studios. Both Nukebox Studios and Titling Point have partnered in in the past on Food Truck Chef. That game has since been downloaded at least 16 million time and reached the top spot under Android Casual Game in 40 countries. Food Truck Chef even made it to the Top 100 Grossing Charts in at least 100 countries on the App Store and Google Play.
