A new live-action trailer for Ghost Recon Wildlands is out this week, ahead of a much longer broadcast slated for later this month, and our first look at “War Within the Cartel” is exactly the sort of marketing content we wish more publishers would use to publicize big game launches.
Technically, the new Ghost Recon Wildlands live-action trailer isn’t actually promoting Ubisoft’s upcoming third-person shooter. Instead, it’s a trailer for War Within the Cartel, the live-action prequel to Ghost Recon Wildlands that will be broadcast on Twitch next week. The 30-minute short film will introduce fans to the Santa Blanca cartel, antagonists from the Ghost Recon Wildlands’ campaign, and give players some idea of how the criminal organization has so much power when the game begins. Hopefully, it’ll also explain how T.I. fits into all this, because he makes a incredibly brief cameo in this week’s trailer and I need to know more.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer for the rest of the story. The latest Ghost Recon Wildlands trailer confirms War Within the Cartel will make its global debut next week. The half-hour prequel will be broadcast at 5 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, Feb. 16. War Within the Cartel will also be available on Amazon, presumably via the company’s popular streaming service.
For an early look at War Within the Cartel, take a few minutes to watch the new live-action Ghost Recon Wildlands trailer from Ubisoft. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’ll be watching the Ghost Recon Wildlands prequel when it debuts next week.
Ghost Recon Wildlands is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game debuts March 7, 2017.
