Goodbye World is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in spring. With this, more players should be able to experience the highs and lows in the journey that is creating the most successful indie game in the world. Safe to say that it's a game within a game.
That's not the only good news. PM Studios and Isolation Studio announced that physical editions of the game are also launching simultaneously through Video Games Plus. No other details, including the release date, have been revealed. However, the price was unveiled and it’s $34.99.
Goodbye World tells the story of two friends and the harsh reality that they face as they make indie games. What these two budding entrepreneurs realize is that making games isn't all sunshine and roses. Players take on the role of game programmer Kanii and graphics artist Kumade. The two met in college and are now trying to come up with a product that sells. As they struggle to sell their games, they'll need to work part-time jobs so they can make ends meet. Players can look forward to a story-rich experience which follows our two brave characters across 13 story chapters. By the way, the game has a linear storyline and doesn’t have multiple endings.
In addition to the main game, there's also a minigame called "BLOCKS," a puzzle platformer composed of 12 stages. It's played by Kanii and is sure to bring that nostalgic factor for handheld video games. BLOCKS has cute animal-like characters that break and pile up "block" through retro elements reflected not just in the controls but also the music. However, as the main story progresses, players get to learn more about what's behind BLOCKS.
Do you have what it takes to make an indie game?
Goodbye World is also available on PC and Nintendo Switch. It was developed by Isolation Studio, a video game studio based in Nagoya, Japan, and known for games like 206 and Horror House. The game is being published by PM Studios, which has offices in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Seoul Korea.
