While Gordon Ramsay might not be the world’s best flight pilot, he certainly knows a thing or to about being captain in the kitchen. Having opened multiple successful restaurants, which have earned 16 Michelin stars and hosting numerous popular cooking shows, the celebrity chef has now turned his attention to creating cooking challenges all his fan can participate in.
Partnering with popular celebrity game maker, Glu Mobile, Ramsay has recently released a mobile cooking challenge game called Ramsay Dash.
Following a model similar to Cooking Dash, an earlier popular game produced by Glu, Ramsay Dash tasks players with opening new restaurants and learning to cook the specialty dishes served there. As you complete assignments you’re introduced to more and more complex recipes, which you’ll need to remember and prepare to serve at a moment’s notice.
The game starts out easy in the early levels but as you move through the episodes (challenges) that comprise the “seasons” of your cooking show, things start to get pretty stressful. Not only are you learning new recipes all the time, you also have ensure you’re prepping enough products for the meals you have to cook, and constantly monitoring that you don’t burn or ruin the food you are making. Each episode is timed so the pressure can really build up. If you start screwing up orders or customers end up waiting too long, you have to bear not only their sighs and disgusted grunts but also the ire of your fearless leader, Gordon Ramsay.
In the game, Gordon gives player praise when they are doing well, saying things like “absolutely f@*king stunning,” but if you start messing up, you can imagine the kind of critique headed your way.
The game is free to play, but if you hope to play more than one season of the game, be prepared to shell out a little money. The game reaches a point where it’s absolutely impossible to progress forward unless you purchase some kind of upgrades to your food, drinks or kitchen equipment. Upgrades are purchased with a combination of gold and coins, and while you can earn some of these by beating episodes, or completing various trophy objectives, the rewards are pretty few and far between. But if you’re prepared to sink $2-5 dollars into buying gold you’ll probably make it to the end of an entire show (comprised of four seasons, 10 episodes each.)
The game also offers players the ability to compete against friends or other random online players, earning experience points that you turn in for weekly prizes.
For anyone that is a fan of watching or playing cooking themed TV shows or games, Ramsay Dash will likely be right up your alley.
The game is available now for iOS and Android devices on the Apple App and Google Play stores. For tips and tricks to getting started in the game, check out our quick start guide below.
Gordon Ramsay Game Tips and Tricks
- Tip #1:Preparation is key! – So, the Ramsay Dash game has a lot of elements going at once, but like any good restaurant worker or owner knows, preparation plays a huge role in your success. As you move through the game and start to learn the various dishes, you’ll automatically know which ones take the longest to prepare and which are most often ordered. As much as possible start prepping those items ahead of time. When the timer begins it takes 2-5 second before your first customer arrives. If you’re in “Big Bay Burgers” show, for example, that’s the perfect time to get a couple hamburgers grilling, you’re sous chef chopping potatoes and some onion rings in the fryer. The more you can feasibly prep ahead the better.
- Tip #2: Buy Upgrades Wisely – Gordon will give you some suggestions on what equipment you should upgrade, but I find that upgrading your Grill and grill storage should be top priority followed by the fryer and fryer storage. The reason is, this will give you the opportunity to do that valuable prepping as discussed above. After you have some good storage and extra cook tops in place, I’d then move to upgrading food items. The number of stars you receive in a season has to do with how many coins you collect and the more you upgrade your food, the more coins you’ll gain per serving.
- Tip #3 Watch Some Videos – As I said, getting gold is pretty sparse in the game, so make sure to take advantage of opportunities to watch videos in order to earn some. You can find video opportunities by going to the store, clicking on the gold purchase options and at the bottom is a button labeled “Free Gold.” Tap it to watch a video and earn free gold. The game will actually allow you to watch quite a few videos in order to get the gold you need in the game.
- Tip #4: Do Things In Groups – If you see two customers requesting drinks, make an effort to serve them drinks in consecutive order, or if two burgers are up, grab them both at the same time and serve them. This will help build up your Ramsay help power. Once he’s surrounded in flames, tap on him and he’ll instantly finish all the customer orders at once.
