For the last few weeks, there has been a lot of noise about GTA Trilogy being remastered. This compilation will contain GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, and will be released on several platforms, including Nintendo Switch.
Several rumors from multiple sources made the same claim about the remaster. Now, you can add more to the list.
Release Date and Platform
According to an article, the trilogy is definitely being remastered. The games will use Unreal Engine and will feature a mixture of “new and old graphics.” It is being developed by the new Scottish Studio, Rockstar Dundee. The same studio is also helping in the next-gen version of GTA 5.
The post further claimed that the compilation will launch in late October or early November. You would be able to play the game on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Stadia, PC, and mobile phones. However, PC and mobile ports could be delayed until next year. The developer wants to focus on the console port first.
The Developer
Rockstar Dundee was previously known as Ruffian Games before being purchased by Take-Two. The company worked on Crackdown 2, 3, and the Halo: Master Chief Collection.
We don’t know how good the actual remaster is going to be. But from what we are hearing, this remaster seems pretty ambitious. Along with Rockstar Dundee, several other Rockstar Studios are helping the development. That’s one of the reasons why Red Dead Online has been receiving less content.
Changed Plans
The same post also claims that Take-Two has changed its plans about releasing the trilogy multiple times. Initially, it was supposed to be given to players who will purchase next-gen versions of GTA 5 and GTA Online. Then, the plans changed, and the trilogy was supposed to be released early this year. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Now, it will launch at the end of 2021. Do keep in mind that the release date isn’t officially confirmed yet. The game could get delayed again due to the pandemic.
