November 11 was a big day for hardcore GTA fans. Rockstar has finally released its highly anticipated GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition, a remastered compilation of three critically-acclaimed games: GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.
Fans were excited to get their hands on the games that shaped their childhood. However, they were in for a surprise. When the trilogy was released, many found it low quality and thought it was a cheap cash grab. The games are marred with bugs, performance issues, and crashes.
One of the things that fans disliked was the cartoon-looking characters that break the immersion.
Missing Songs
Several songs in the original Vice City and San Andreas were missing, meaning that Rockstar didn’t renew the music license. While the remasters contain over 200 songs, some iconic ones were not there.
Unacceptable Bugs
The games have some weird bugs. One of them is the rain effect. This is hands down one of the worst rain effects I have seen in a video game. You can watch the video above to judge for yourself.
Worst Rated GTA Game
GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition is now one of the worst-rated GTA games, according to Metacritic. As of writing this article, the PC version is sitting at a 0.6 user score, making it the sixth lowest-rated game of all time. User Scores on other platforms are also bad, not even reaching 1.0.
It is just sad to see Rockstar treat its legacy like this. GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas were some of the best games of their time. Fans weren’t expecting a full-fledged remake, but they at least wanted a polished product. It’s not as bad as Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s still quite bad.
Now I am worried about how Rockstar will treat Red Dead Redemption Remaster if they decide to make it.
